Power To The Bump

When I had Max, I didn't know how much my life was going to turn upside down. But it did and I can honestly say it was for the best. Throughout motherhood I have experienced a wealth of discrimination and prejudice for things such as my age and parenting choices.

Last year I was approached by the Equality and Human Rights Commission to help work on their #PowerToTheBump campaign. I had already spent time with the Young Women's Trust discussing my experiences and how I wanted to help fight the discrimination, so it was a no-brainer that I wanted to jump on board and help.

The #PowerToTheBump campaign is about highlighting the discrimination young pregnancy women face in the workplace. My experience is pretty terrible and I've written about it for them over on the EHRC blog. To know that I'm not alone in my experience is shocking and terrifying. That young women are putting themselves at risk due to the fear of loosing their jobs is outrageous.

That's why I want to help make a change. By writing a blog, going on TV and doing anything I can to help change people's mindsets on young parents in the workplace.
