Rocky Horror Show 2025 UK Tour - Bournemouth Review

What do you get when you find a cult film that's a hit musical and has millions of adoring fans? Why you get Rocky Horror of course! It's back on tour to tantalise and entertain audiences across the UK and has hit the shores of Bournemouth to take you to another dimension.

For those that are unaware of the story of Rocky Horror, let me tell you a tale...

Set on a cold and wet night, you are introduced to two fresh faced and naive young people called Brad and Janet. A newly, engaged couple who end up with a flat tyre in the middle of nowhere as they are on their way to see an old friend. Venturing through the rain to the only available place they have passed, they stumble upon a mysterious castle with even stranger occupants that want them to join their spectacular party. What happens next can only be described as astounding, madness and rip roaring fun.

Rocky Horror is a film that pushed the boundaries of gender and sexuality and it's a musical that has audience members dressing up, shouting and bringing props to every show. It is a musical like no other. Whilst most musicals encourage audience members to sit and listen to the show quietly, Rocky Horror does the exact opposite and asks the audience to shout out and interact as much as possible. With the tale being told by an enigmatic narrator, I must applaud comedian Nathan Caton who's foray into this role was nothing less than perfect. With sharp remarks, local quips, and hilarious one liners; it almost felt like he was on stage as a comedian giving the hecklers as good as they gave him.

Lauren Chia and Connor Carson took on the roles of Brand and Janet, and my goodness were these two the most perfect pairing I've ever seen. Lauren's vocal range was absolutely astounding and she blew me away with her innocence and naive nature and Connor's Brad was just brilliant. Job Greuter and Natasha Hoeberigs were sublime as Riff Raff and Magenta and I loved Morgan Jackson as Rocky. This show is one where the whole ensemble and cast work their socks off and it shows that despite the exhaustion they must love every second of it.

Making his stage debut in the role of Frank N Furter was Adam Strong. Having previously seen him take on roles such as Jafar and Khashoggi, I couldn't wait to see how he adapted to the role of Frank. And adapt he did! He absolutely blew me away with his performance. His rich vocals teamed with the commandeering nature of the role to leave you thinking that he had been playing this part for years.

Rocky Horror is a completely timeless show. It doesn't matter if you watch it once or one hundred times. You will never tire of the crazy, bizarre and outright wild escapades that happen on stage. Team it with a wicked soundtrack that most people know and love, It's a show that everyone loved from the start to the end. It's just a jump to the left, and a step into the Bournemouth Pavilion to watch the show again and again!

On at the Bournemouth Pavilion until 08/02/25 before continuing on a UK tour, it's one not to miss.
